Groupe Nutri, a Canadian leader in egg grading and processing, announces a strategic investment aimed at strengthening its presence in Saint-Hyacinthe. The company has just acquired, from Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole, the industrial building located at 6525, rue Picard in the Olivier-Chalifoux industrial park, adjacent to its current facilities.
Spanning approximately 83,150 square feet, the building will accommodate a large portion of the development activities that will allow Groupe Nutri to consolidate its position as a producer of healthy and simple foods for the Quebec and Canadian markets.
“Our goal is to become the organization with the egg offering most loved by Canadian consumers, recognized for its distinctive products, operational performance, and technological edge,” emphasized Groupe Nutri’s Chief Executive Officer, Sébastien Léveillé. “We are confident that this acquisition will contribute to our growth and that it will allow the next generation of our farmer-owners to propel their businesses through Nutri.”
“We are very satisfied with the agreement we reached with Groupe Nutri for the sale of this real estate asset. This transaction will not only enable a major manufacturing investment project but also support the growth of agri-food development activity in our region, and more particularly on a site close to the Cité de l’innovation agroalimentaire (Agri-Food Innovation City),” added the Executive Director of Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole, Karine Guilbault.
It is worth recalling that Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole had acquired the building when it was left vacant in 2019. The organization had then wished to ensure it maintained a use that would be structuring for the region’s economy, given the importance of the building in terms of surface area, but also its strategic location alongside Highway 20. It had only been partially occupied by various industrial tenants since this acquisition.
“Several purchase offers and redevelopment scenarios were evaluated for this site in recent years. However, our intention, with the support of our board of directors, was to wait for a project that aligned with the strategic vision we had for this building before parting with it. A condition satisfied by Groupe Nutri’s project,” specified Ms. Guilbault.
